Korea Establishes the 6th Basic Plan for Science and Technology (2026–2030)


Korea has finalized the 6th Basic Plan for Science and Technology, a top-level national strategy that will guide the country’s science and technology policy from 2026 to 2030.
The plan sets a vision of creating new growth for all through science and technology innovation and AI transformation. It focuses on four key directions: strengthening the science and technology innovation system, accelerating AI transformation, driving technology-led growth, and promoting inclusive growth.
Major policy areas include R&D system reform, AI technologies and infrastructure, national strategic technologies, commercialization and startup support, regional innovation, public health and safety, and climate and energy solutions.
Through the plan, Korea aims to enhance its global technological competitiveness and build a stronger innovation ecosystem that benefits both the economy and society.
