Korea Announces Three Megaprojects to Drive National Growth
The Korean government held a public briefing on the “Three Megaprojects for Korea’s Great Leap Forward” on June 29, 2026, at Cheong Wa Dae Yeongbingwan in Seoul.
The briefing brought together around 90 participants from government ministries, major companies, public corporations, universities, and research institutions to discuss large-scale investment plans and infrastructure measures for three key strategic sectors: semiconductors, physical AI including AI robotics, and AI data centers.
The government outlined plans to strengthen Korea’s semiconductor competitiveness, accelerate the development of AI robotics and physical AI as national strategic industries, and build large-scale AI data center infrastructure. The projects also include measures to secure stable power and water supplies, expand energy infrastructure, and create advanced corporate cities that can attract investment, businesses, and talent.
Through the three megaprojects, Korea aims to move beyond economic recovery and achieve a major leap forward by strengthening its technological competitiveness, supporting private-sector investment, and building the infrastructure needed for future industries.
